Family Oral History

This workshop is an exploration of family stories and personal histories. I invite each participant to bring something from their family that has deep meaning to them. This can be a picture, a baby spoon, a tablecloth, a wedding ring: anything that has history and stories attached to it. Even an honored food recipe passed down from one generation to another can be filled with rich stories.

Each participant shares a story related to the object and we often find we are amazed and moves by the depth and passion that can be drawn out by these simple family objects. We will do storytelling exercises like drawing a diagram, making a time line for the object, and small-group telling.

This workshop is best limited to 20 participants. If additional people sign up, I can offer a second workshop.
